Our team

Candace Moore, Shelter Director

Candace joined our team in 2024 as Shelter Director. She stepped in was immediately part of the Paws Family! She is engaged and has one son. She absolutely LOVES the animals and really enjoys meeting the public. Please come by and say hello to Candace and the rest of our staff!

Becca McClain, Animal Health Manager

Becca was one of the first kennel techs hired in 2012. After a 2 month hiatus, she returned as a Vet Tech. In 2019 Becca has served as Director, but has moved into the position of  Transport and Animal Health Manager, her REAL passion! She is a Rabun County native, married with two sons and one daughter. 

Everett Lampros, Public Relations, Volunteers and Adoptions

Everett has a gift for loving animals and people...  with a special heart for those that need it the most. He is great at pairing animals with their new family. Please call Everett to help you find your new family member.

Brandon McClain, Animal Control Director

Brandon is our Animal Control Director. As a US veteran, Brandon brings organization and commitment to the difficult task of managing Animal Control for our partnership with Rabun County. He is patient with animals and the public and is bringing new ideas to this division of Paws. 

Kris Hedden, Spay/Neuter Program Manager

Kris has been with the shelter for 5 1/2 years. She started as kennel tech then to lead kennel tech and now manager of the spay/neuter program. Kris is from Highlands, NC and graduated from Highlands High School. She is married and has and infant son (who is frequently at the shelter!)

Sandra Slautterback, Receptionist

Sandra has been a part of our Paws Family for many years now! The voice on the phone, the smile when you come in the door and grandma to the staff! She will take your information for Lost and Found, Spay/Neuter sign-up and will get any messages to the staff for the answers you need.

Come to the shelter for a microchip FREE till further notice, then $15 per pet.

I.D. Tags

Come to the shelter for an I.D. Tag for $5 per pet.
